A Married Couple Gets Hyper About Their Abusive And Excessive Drinking And Wonders If They Manifest Any Alcohol Addiction Signs

Lenny and Angie have been married for nine years. They wanted to have some fun and excitement before they made up their minds to have some kids and so they with forethought fashioned an extremely exciting social life.

The chief problem, it needs to be underscored, is that virtually everything they do socially is associated with drinking. For instance, all of the happy hours, parties with friends, family get-togethers, dinner engagements, and sporting events they spend time at include drinking.

If they were infrequent drinkers this wouldn't be a big deal. Due to the fact they drink in a hazardous manner, nonetheless, they are beginning to become aware of some clear-cut alcohol-related problems in their lives.

For example, just two weeks ago Lenny was apprehended by the police for his first DWI and has been taking time off from work because of alcohol-related health issues. Not only this, but Lenny's last two or three performance reviews at his place of employment have been less than adequate and he has begun to fail to recall what he does or says when he drinks. Finally, Lenny has been having sleep-related problems and his family is starting to grow concerned about his drinking activities.

Angie, on the other hand, has been feeling down in the dumps with life in general and to cope with these feelings, she has been drinking more habitually than any time in the past six months. In addition, Angie has been experiencing more than a few throbbing headaches and experiencing intense hangovers because of her drinking. Lastly, Angie has been feeling substantially less active in the morning, she has been getting to work late at least two days per week, and she has been receiving some unsupportive criticism from her friends, relatives, coworkers, and family members about her abusive and careless drinking.

One Monday evening while watching TV, Lenny and Angie accidentally discovered an exciting documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about alcoholism signs in particular. This television documentary was a real jolt to Lenny and Angie because some of the alcohol facts that were listed gave them the impression that they were undeniably correlated with quite a few of the drinking problems Lenny and Angie had been going through.

With thoughts of the TV documentary still fresh in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcoholism signs they have been exhibiting could be a warning that they are dependent on alcohol or possibly becoming addicted to alcohol. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's question and so he recommended that they schedule an appointment with one of the healthcare practitioners at the nearby drug and alcohol rehabilitation center to find out more about the gravity of their drinking situation.

Ironically, even though their drinking situation hadn't yet changed, it was noticeable that Angie and Lenny were at least focusing on their drinking difficulties, they were ready to find out more about their drinking situation, and they were interested in finding out how they could appreciably lessen or do away with the drinking-related difficulties that had started to escalate.

When Angie and Lenny went to bed that night, they came to a decision that the next afternoon, Lenny would call and make an appointment for both of them at the substance abuse treatment facility located downtown. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to triumph over the drinking difficulties that had cropped up in their lives, they in point of fact had the most energizing night's sleep they could bring to mind in the last two years.
