Iscar Announces A Brand New Family Of Slitting Cutters Applying Tang-Grip Technology And The Strength Of Sumo Tec Grades

Iscar right now offers a family of high-performance slitting tools that merge the convenience and security of Tang-Grip clamping with the increased durability of the new Sumo Tec insert grades.

The notion, already established effective in Tang-Grip parting tools, has now been extended to slitting cutters. In the patented Tang-Grip clamping system, inserts are press-fit into their pockets accompanied by a specific hand tool, and are clutched tightly in place without the need for clamps, upper jaws or set screws that can weaken the insert and disrupt chip flow. The pocket configuration utilizes cutting forces to keep the insert seated tightly in position, removing any prospect of insert pull-out. Iscar's Sumo Tec insert grades showcase a specific post-coating treatment which greatly improves tool life and dependability.

Launched in late 2007, the revolutionary Sumo Tec treatment smooths the insert's coated surface to eliminate microscopic stress raisers, diminish heat and friction and increase chip flow. The result is enhanced toughness and resistance to chipping and built-up edge, all leading to greater tool lifespan. The golden-colored side on Sumo Tec inserts eases wear detection. Size for size, Tangslit cutters offer more teeth than Iscar's SGSF cutters, enabling higher feed rates.
